Competition Winners – Year 5 and 6!

As part of the UEA research Park’s work into antibiotic resistance, Year 5 and 6 have made a film which explores how ABX work, and how they should be used safely!

We entered the film into a county wide competition, and we WON!

As well as the prestige of being film making champions, we also have won a free, all expenses paid trip to the science museum in LONDON!!!!!

 

Have a watch of the film, I’m sure you’ll see the skill in which the children acted and brought the bacteria and microbes to life!

Well done to Mile Cross Primary too, who created another spectacular film and will be visiting the museum too.

Our Y5/6 P.o.L – We ARE SATs ready!

On the 22nd of March, many eager adults joined us to hear how our preparation for SATs testing has been going.

The children were ofcourse fantastic; our visitors mentioned that they were:

  • chatty and knowledgable
  • personable and confident
  • well prepared and pleasant!

Norfolk Records Office

Children visited Norfolk Records Office to find out what effect  the second world war had on the village of Marsham. The children handled real artefacts from WW2, aswell as looking at original documents. These  gave us intriguing snippets of information about the village during this period for example the Parish Council giving permission for the home guard to exercise on Marsham Heath – But not to dig any trenches! .

Kestrels Class -World War Two Animation

Over the last ten weeks children from Kestrels class have been finding out what it was like to live through a war. To try to answer our philosophical question “Who are the real losers when we go to war” they researched the major events of the second world war and then interviewed six  people from the village.

Each person came in to school and spent an hour with the children explaining details and stories from their own childhood. We took the most moving or interesting parts from each conversation and the children used these clips as the basis for some animations. We wanted to bring the stories to life and make sure they are not forgotten or lost. You can view the finished animation below. We hope you enjoy it.

Marsham Primary School Ukelele Band!

Class Two performed a few numbers that they had learned on their ukeleles at Marsham Village Hall’s regular monthly ‘Meet and Mardle’ as part of their “Presentation of Learning” on Friday the 1st December. Here are some videos of their performance:

 

Tiggie the red setter visits Marsham to hear some stories!

Every Friday this term Tiggie a beautiful Irish Red Setter and Janie her owner will be visiting Marsham to hear children reading stories. Tiggie loves being with children and the children have enjoyed sharing stories with her too.

Class 2 travel back in time!

On Monday 2nd October, class 2 at Marsham travelled back in time to 1940! They all became evacuees and spent a great day learning how it would have felt to have been part of the vast number of children relocated to the countryside during World War II.

Hiking and Adventure club- summer 17!

Back by popular demand….

We’ve met fairies in a fairy tunnel, eaten wild raspberries, had some conversations with some cows, and generally adventured around!

We’ve had two fantastic KS2 leaders, and lots of very curious Smaller adventurers learning and enjoying the wonderful nature we have available five minutes from our door.
